Partly from Hawaii these guy made their breakthrough when they became a hype in Isla Vista, some college town near Santa Barbara. From there they became a college circuit hit in California, building a solid fanbase and that must have been their luck, otherwise they would have never made it to the professional record industry. It is like a lightweight pop reggae rock version of Jack Johnson, perfect for Californian beaches, but rather boring anywhere else.
And actually they do best when they keep that reggae sound out and indeed play catchy Jack Johnson like tunes, like this one:
