It did not take long before he attracted the attention of big western artist such as Peter gabriel and Paul Simon. Partly because of this inter cultural fusion N'Dour became a pioneer of Mbalax: a mixture of various Western European Music styles and African traditions; Senegalese dance music.
N'dour didn't stick to that alone and combines various styles both African and Western, becoming much more an international artist than an African.
