Born in 1918 in Houston, Texas, Eddie Vinson started his career in the thirties, playing in several orchestras. Later on he moved to New York to do the same. This R&B, Blues, Jazz and Be-bop Alt saxophonist formed his own band in 1945 and topped his success in the fifties, his band also containing the young John Coltrane!Mid sixties he moved to Los Angeles. His nickname he got from an incident with lye in a hair straightening product which destroyed his hair.
