Legendary band from Congo (Zaïre) also written as Zaïko Langa Langa. The add on Familia Dei comes from a split up around 1990 when the two original band leaders Nyoka Longo and Bimi Ombale formed their own band and the current musicians went along with either one or the other.
Nyoka formed Zaiko Langa Langa Nkolo Mboka but since this band was considered to be the original band it later was changed back to Zaiko Langa Langa again.
But before this major split Zaiko was already such an influencing soukous band their status and impact on the young people of Congo and the music industry is often compared to the impact the Rolling Stones had (and have) on European Music.
They also popularized a dance 'cavacha' (kavasha) that conquered most of Eastern Africa and lasted for at least a decade.
Over time lots of singers joined and left (very often to start a band of their own) and great musicians and singers got their experience from working with Zaiko. Like Papa Wemba for instance.
Guest singer on this album is Ilo Pablo.
