Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup - Rock Me Mama (Part of the series "The Blues Collection" (no. 47). )

Like many other big blues artists Arthur Crudup started out playing for nickels and dimes back in the forties, but he was so talented and his sound was so unique that he made it to the scene rather fast. A pioneer you might say and an inspiration and example for others. And not the least, for instance Elvis Presley covered 3 of his sings in his rockabilly period. He had several big R&B hits at the time with songs like Rock Me Mama, So Glad You're Mine and Who's Been Fooling You. Of course this album contains them all and more:

This is the re-cut version of a track name That's Alright, which at the time (early forties)  did not become a hit. But this version "I Don't Know it' from 1946 sure did!
