The Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery and Imagination: Edgar Allan Poe
Album Rock from the seventies, but this is not just an album, this is (what's in a name?) a project by itself. It is a journey through the work of writer Edgar Allan Poe, with the use of all kinds of instruments. Like for instance Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' it is an album that you should actually play in full.
The narrator in a couple of the songs is the great Orson Wells, could you have anyone better?
The Tell-Tale Heart even reminds me of Tommy, the rock opera from The Who:
