The Script - The Script

I like this album, but only for a couple of songs. It is not a very well composed album and keeps the middle between good alternative pop/rock and .... well yes and some totally off track tracks. The totally misplaced 80's track 'Rusty Halo' kind of cuts the album off, only to live up a little for two more okay-ish tracks.

After that it is 'If You See Kay' that starts kind of funky and then dies out as a totally wrong R&B song. '10 10 I'm Yours' sounds like a Heart ballad and you are waiting for the guitar solo that never kicks in. And the last track 'Anybody There' reminds me the most of the country hit song 'Like a Rhinestone Cowboy'.

But okay, if you start out as an Irish Boy Band (which flunked) and then switch, but with such a wide variety of influences as the new wave of U2 and the blue-eyed soul of Van Morrison, I guess it is hard to find direction.

Play the first 5 tracks and you have a good EP though.
