Angel Viloria y su Conjunto Típico Cibaeño - Vol. 1

Merengue originates in the Dominican Republic and Angel Viloria really knows how to put down these really old merengues. These are merengues like the should be, rhythm and rules wise, so there is a big chance that if you ever took latin dance lessons you learned to dance the merengue to these.

The clear voice of Dioris Valladares combined with the saxophone of Ramon Garcia go perfectly well together. Luis Quintero handles the "tambora" on this album, a typical Dominican drum which is very hard to play. "Merengue Cerrao" is a good example when you want to hear that drum.

Of course I love this album, this is merengue roots music, there are not too many albums out there you can lay your hands on when it comes to that.
