The Holmes Brothers - Feed My Soul

The Holmes brothers consist of Sherman & Wendell Holmes and drummer Popsy Dixon. They play fusion blues, mostly based on religion: jazz, funk, soul, retro-soul, blues, modern electric blues, jazz-blues, blues-rock, gospel and even some reggae influences at time. I tag that as Blues Gospel.

They have been playing in Harlem for many years but only became internationally successful recently. Mostly due to Joan Osborne, who not only befriended them and became supporter of the band but also took them on tour as her backing band, when she opened for Bob Dylan in 1997.

Very nice album this is. Not only you can blend it with your Blues and/or Blues Rock collection, a Gospel collection but fits in perfectly with what I call my Border Music collection as well. Grab some Ry Cooder, some cajun and zydeco, some 'down by the river' Americana songs. Mix it with some holmes brothers and add some melancholic Mexican songs and there is your Border Music playlist :-)
