Big Bill Broonzy - Whiskey and Good Time Blues (The blues Collection no. 27)

William Lee Conley Broonzy from Mississippi. He learned to play a cigar box fiddle from his uncle and played violin in church as a teenager. His parents were sharecroppers and direct descendants from ex-slaves. In 1924 Broonzy moved to Chicago, working several factories. There he met Papa Charlie Jackson, a New Orleans blues pioneer, who taught him how to play the guitar.

Broonzy was not very successful as a blues artist at first, but after a couple of records that would really change. For the real big break and success however he had to wait until the fifties.

This is a remastered version of Key to the Highway. On the CD you find the raw acoustic material.
