Amazing work from this Norwegian singer/songwriter. Jazzy, experimental electronic, sometimes a touch of country. Hard to categorize. Well that depends what kind of tags you use. Strangely enough there are genres as chamber pop and art rock, but there is no such thing as Art Pop or Art Pop/Rock, which I invented for my own indexation. In the real world this would just be tagged as Indie Electronic.
This is really a very intimate album, the kind you sit down to in a room with dimmed lights and just listen and let the music stream through your body. At times she sounds like Bjork or Bloem de Ligny, but the moment you start to think it is really going there, the song will bend in another direction. That is what makes this album so great, all those twists and turns you never know what to expect next, from song to song, but also within the songs. Like watching an intimate movie with a certain tense, sometimes dark, tensed, you think something is about to happen, but the director keeps playing with lights and shadows, pulls you back and pushes you forward, spins you around.
