Listening to this for the first few tracks will only cause one reaction: where the fuck can I hide? Seriously.
Now this band from Kenya is actually an Hotel Band and truly when you have heard 'Haba Haba Soup Soup' you will never want to check in at that hotel again, lmao. Too bad it is one of two main bands in Kenya working the hotel business, so there is no escape.
After another all time Kenyan ehmm evergreen 'Mambo Jambo' visualizing myself being on a cruise ship, nauseous all the way and wondering if that was because of the waves or the AIRwaves I was about to give up.
But wait....Kenya.... isn't that the country where they play the most beautiful songs, slow songs, African ballads? Yes it is. There are numerous beautiful songs about the Kilimanjaro for instance.
And indeed, starting from track five the horrifying gong puke tunes are gone and we get some fine uptempo songs in Swahili that are way better. Even a nice ballad. Well, almost haha. The end play is a sort of reggae tune which kind of kills the song (Malaika).
The last two tracks on the album are great. I like Nilikupenda better, but could not find that one on tube. Lucky for you I could not find Haba haba Soup Soup either, lmao.
Oh yeah right. Where are the other 9 CD's? I don't know, this one popped up, probably I downloaded them all, but since I only blogged not even 1% of my collection it could take a while. Be patient :-)
