World Music Essentials - North America

I have no explanation for the title of this album, because this has nothing to do with North America whatsoever. And part of it isn't world music either. Unless of course you consider any music in another language than your own to be world music. In my opinion however Latin Rock for instance is still rock, just in Spanish.

And an album like this one, filled with music in Brazilian Portuguese And Spanish can never be North American essentials. And the second half of it is rap-hip/hop, so there goes the world music too.
And they sell it like this for 8 bucks on Amazon and even more on Itunes.

This is like selling a can of Campbell's creamy mushroom soup, and putting it in an online store, saying it's Swiss goat cheese.
It is forbidden to do so with food, where is the law for music?

Still there are a couple of songs worth listening to like the first track 'Telepata' from Domenico + Two, Moreno, Kassin, Domenico, 'Negra Presuntuosa' from Susana Baca (which is Afro-Peruvian, how very North American, lmao) and Manuel Donayre, Carlos Soto De La Colina with 'Yo No Soy Jaqui' and I never ever heard a cumbia reggae song before in my life (Cumbia Reggae_King Chango, J_A_ Blanco, 6_ Lee, L_ Blanco, L_ Ruiz - Revolution).

As a compilation however this album totally sucks, there is no idea behind it the songs don't match and it really puzzles me why 'Vamos Ya' from Los Fabulosos Cadillacs would be essential to anything. It is a remake of an old disco song (Move On Up) for sakes.

The song is from Manuel Donayre, also Afro-Peruvian. My guess is these are all artists that somehow ended up in USA, New York probably.
