Arno - Idiots Savants

Arno Hintjes is one of those artists that really need whisky and cigarettes to get that special vocal sound and believe me, he is good at it too. I remember seeing him back in another lifetime performing the full set of Charles et les Lulus (another album) and you start longing for whisky and a ciggie just listening to the guy.

After playing in a couple of bands he founded TC Band with Paul Decouter (both are Belgian) and they renamed it to TC Matic, to become one of the most popular bands of the eighties. 

TC Matic however was a punk/wave rock band. The later work of Hintjes is way more sensitive and is best to describe as alternative indie rock you would expect in a theater or a sailor's bar near the harbor. 

Most of the album is in English (great songs such as 'Funky You're Not' and 'I Sold My Soul to MTV') but a couple are in French, like this one:
