Duke, Canary, Fighter and Blakie - This Is Calypso
A lot of people don't even know this, but back in the sixties, music from Europe and USA was very popular in both the Caribbean and throughout Africa, including the way they dresses and the way they did their hair. Of course there were a lot of local artists that started copying songs or mixed it in with existing music traditions. When you compare today's calypso music to the calypso in the sixties, the bands from the sixties sound like old style jazz combo's topped of with (in this case) Trinidadian hot sauce.
Much to my surprise I could even find the track I was looking for, though it is not the same recording. And Fighter is now named King Fighter. Guess he moved up in the scene over time
