Hip Hop Essentials - Vol. 5
Maybe the less interesting volume of this series. Not that the tracks are not worthwhile listening to, but I would not choose some of these songs to represent the bands chosen. Most of this is late 80's and you would expect that "ahh, yes that one!" feeling you having playing these CD's, because selected tracks to my opinion should be tracks that keep their power over the years. But on the other hand, what am I complaining? 12 discs and this one is a little less, still is the best old school compilation there is to be found.

Most interesting track: De La Soul's "Ring Ring Ring". De La Soul was one of the most influencing acts for over a decade. Most weird choice would be "Hey DJ" from World Famous Supreme theme. A track written by Malcolm McLaren and seriously, he left us with better things than that. Other tracks that can stand time: "Wild Wild West" (Kool Moe Dee), "Bring the Noize" (Public Enemy) and of course this one from Queen Latifah wit Money Love:
