Fanga - Sira Ba

Based on Ghana's highlife music this band from France brings us extreme powerful (Fanga means strength) jazz and funk highlife fusion. In other words: afrobeat. You might compare it to Fela Kuti for the jazz style influences, but with more urban rhythms and way funkier.

Lead singer Korbo is from Burkina Faso and came to France at the age of ten and funny enough he was first discovered as a rapper / hip-hop artist. Because all members of the band grew up ar partly grew up in Europe their music is way more modern and one could say they picked up were Fela Kuti left off.
If you are into modern Afrobeat, this is absolutely a must have for your collection.
